Program Memperkasakan Kesejahteraan Rakyat (“MEKAR”)

Securing Basic Necessities
Clean Water – MEKAR Sabah @ Pitas

Residents in this community used to rely on rainwater and long trips to rivers and jungles for their water supply. But with this programme, they now enjoy clean and safe water, following the installation of water supply systems in five villages benefitting some 200 families.

With these systems that are simple to operate and make water much easier to access, these villagers can now focus on improving their socio-economic status without the added stress of water scarcity.

Solar Power – MEKAR Johor @ Kluang

This programme brought light to Kampung Orang Asli Berasau, a Johor settlement previously without access to the national grid. Today, the community enjoys solar-powered electricity, following the installation of renewable energy systems in the village.

Five units of portable photovoltaic (PV) solar technology and two sets of solar hydroponic systems were also contributed to SK Seri Sedohok Orang Asli, a boarding school for primary students from seven Orang Asli villages, to help raise awareness and interest in STEM subjects.

Empowering Entrepreneurs
Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Training

MEKAR supports communities at every stage of their economic journey, from providing access to basic necessities to fostering their long-term financial independence. Through targeted, impact driven assistance delivered in collaboration with strategic and implementation partners, MEKAR transforms economic disadvantages into pathways for growth and self-sufficiency.

Go-to-Market
Equip with business acumen and access to market

Yayasan PETRONAS, in collaboration with its strategic partners NCIA and ECERDC, and implementation partner SIRIM, introduced the Training and Entrepreneurship Development programme to provide advanced entrepreneurial training to 720 selected micro-business owners.
