Special Education Needs (SEN)
Through the integration of SEN into its wider strategy, Yayasan PETRONAS seeks to foster educational equity by delivering systemic interventions and quality resources for students with learning difficulties and their caregivers and educators.
Championing Inclusive Education for Every Child
Every child deserves access to quality education—regardless of their learning differences or background. Under our Education Pillar, the Special Education Needs programme is a new initiative dedicated to supporting students with learning disabilities across Malaysia.
Through a holistic approach that includes targeted teacher support, early detection, and community awareness, as well as conducive learning spaces, we aim to create inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive. This programme aligns with the Government’s vision for equity and inclusivity in education, ensuring that no learner is left behind.
In 2024, we embarked on Inisiatif Memperkasa PPKI (IMPI), that supports 60 educators and 120 parents of children with learning difficulties to co-develop individualised education plan. These champions are now equipped to create nurturing, inclusive learning environments.
Our journey doesn’t stop here. Through early detection activities in four districts across Sabah this year, we identified 223 students with learning disabilities out of 250 screened.
Immediate support was provided in collaboration with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), ensuring these children were registered for OKU cards on the spot—unlocking access to critical resources and assistance.
