Building Stronger Communities Together

Yayasan PETRONAS at a glance

Yayasan PETRONAS is the social impact arm of PETRONAS, committed to strengthening communities throughout Malaysia through structured, long-term interventions.

Guided by the Theory of Change (TOC) framework and delivered in partnership with government agencies, implementation partners and local communities, our work advances socio- economic progress across three core pillars: Education, Community Well-being & Development, and the Environment.

Building stronger communities is ultimately measured not by intent, but by outcomes that endure. It requires clear priorities, disciplined execution, and ongoing partnerships. This belief continues to guide Yayasan PETRONAS in its role as the social impact arm of PETRONAS.

Focus Areas

Education

Program Duta Guru (PDG) remained a key platform for supporting educators in strengthening STEM teaching practices. Delivered in collaboration with MOE Malaysia and implemented with Yayasan Teach for Malaysia and PETROSAINS, PDG is structured as a 24-month programme that provides teachers with innovative teaching methodologies, peer support and classroom resources that support future-ready learning.

Community Well-being & Development

Our Community Well-being & Development efforts are guided by two approaches: the Community-based Approach, which emphasises community involvement and shared ownership in programme implementation; and Broad-based Health Interventions, which strengthen access and continuity within community health systems.

Environment

Environmental and community resilience are closely interconnected. In 2025, Yayasan PETRONAS continued to work alongside partners and communities to support forest and ecosystem restoration, while strengthening local communities’ capacity to respond to climate-related risks. These efforts were guided by Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), recognising that long-term resilience requires both healthy ecosystems and prepared communities.
