Ginger For Growth
Grown in the rich soil of Pitas, Sabah, quality ginger is processed and pulverised in Karak, Pahang, for local distribution and export. The growers are pioneers of the PETRONAS Planting Tomorrow Programme.
The Planting Tomorrow Programme, in partnership with Yayasan Sejahtera Sabah, endeavoured to make water more accessible. Now, water flows freely and is distributed via a gravity system for daily use, sanitation and agriculture.
Today, there is a large number of ginger harvesting jobs in the area, thanks to the good soil and water. The villagers are happy – better income, improved livelihood and quality produce.
