KUALA LUMPUR, 20 December 2019 – Yayasan PETRONAS, the CSR arm of PETRONAS, recently commenced a series of Christmas celebrations for more than 1,300 beneficiaries in eight locations throughout Malaysia as part of its annual Sentuhan Kasih Festive programme.
Yayasan PETRONAS via Sentuhan Kasih Hari Natal 2019, together with state agencies and non-governmental organisations, spread cheer to the less privileged from 12-21 December with meal treats, donation of basic necessities such as new clothes, household items and hampers, to make Christmas a more joyous celebration.
Yayasan PETRONAS Chief Executive Officer Lita Osman said: “Christmas is always a time for joy, love and peace. We believe that good can flourish through collective acts of kindness. Our goal is to spend as much time as possible with the less fortunate and share presents. It is wonderful to see their faces light up with our small gestures.”
Throughout the 10-day programme, a total of 185 PETRONAS volunteers will be visiting old folks’ homes and orphanages as well as low-income (B40) families in Melaka, Johor, Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak and Pulau Pinang, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
A PETRONAS volunteer, Tg Nurulhidayah Tg Ishak, said: “This has been such a rewarding experience for me. I am reminded to be grateful for the abundance of blessings I have in my life and to share it with others. I would continue volunteering as it allows me to use my time and energy towards something positive.”
The Sentuhan Kasih Yayasan PETRONAS programme is part of the Foundation’s Community Well-being and Development focus area, initiated to coincide with major celebrations in Malaysia. It provides an avenue for Yayasan PETRONAS to work with communities to provide for their basic needs and well-being.
