AAY 2019 Chairman’s Circle Seeks Environmental Solutions Champion

Five Teams Offer Business Plan in Environmental Solutions for Yayasan PETRONAS’ AAY 2019

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2019 Five secondary schools teams which participated in Yayasan PETRONAS’ Sentuhan Harapan-All About Youth 2019 (AAY 2019) programme have secured another opportunity to win RM30,000 in the competition’s Chairman’s Circle Award this December.

Yayasan PETRONAS, the CSR arm of PETRONAS, today announced the five teams that will develop the best environmental solution for potential commercialisation and become the ultimate winner of the Chairman’s Circle Award.

The teams were selected from 50 schools involving 1,000 Form 2 and Form 4 students from Melaka, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak, based on their product design and viability as well as the promotion of their ideas via social media, to garner public votes.

The finalists must now develop a business plan over the next 10 weeks, based on their prototype, keeping to the theme “Reducing Carbon Emissions for a Better Future”.

Yayasan PETRONAS CEO Lita Osman said AAY 2019 offers the opportunity for bright young talents to showcase innovative business plans for the benefit of society.

“Through AAY 2019, Yayasan PETRONAS hopes to provide students with creative, lateral thinking and collaborative skills to develop capabilities as future leaders. AAY also aims to spur social innovation and supports the Government’s 60:40 target ratio of STEM-Arts enrolment as well as the country’s aspiration to reduce carbon emissions,” she said.

AAY is supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change.
