Yayasan PETRONAS Provides Flood Relief Assistance to Johor and Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 MARCH 2023 – Yayasan PETRONAS, via its Uplifting Lives initiative, is contributing over 1,000 aid packages to families displaced by flood that hit Johor and Sarawak recently.

The items, comprising hygiene kits, dry food items, blankets and drinking water, are being distributed together with Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysia between 6 and 8 March to 900 families in Kota Tinggi, Kluang, Batu Pahat, Tangkak, Segamat and Muar, and to 200 families in Sarikei and Sri Aman.

“We cannot imagine the challenges that communities and families are going through amid such difficult time. Our hope is that this aid can lift the spirits of fellow Malaysians. Yayasan PETRONAS will continue to extend our help and care to communities that have been severely affected by recent floods,” Yayasan PETRONAS chief executive officer Shariah Nelly Francis said.

Earlier in December 2022, Yayasan PETRONAS has contributed 5,000 aid packages to families affected by the flood in Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah. A further 700 aid packages were distributed in February this year to flood victims residing in Johor and Sabah.

Overall, Yayasan PETRONAS has contributed close to 7,000 aid packages to affected 30 affected districts in 11 states since December 2022.
